Healthy Snack Party

We have scheduled our healthy snack party for Friday May 14, 2010. It will be at 3:15. We hope that you come and enjoy some of our healthy snacks!

Favorite junk foods

We surveyed the whole class to find out what there favorite junk food is. We came up with these results and the calories and fat content of them:
  • six people-ice cream-145 calories, 7.9 grams of fat
  • four people-candy-266 calories, 11 grams of fat
  • three people-pizza-272 calories, 10 grams of fat
  • two people-french fries-539 calories, 259 grams of fat
  • one person-hamburgers-279 calories, 13.5 grams of fat
  • one person-brownies-243 calories, 91 grams of fat
  • one person-donuts-290 calories, 150 grams of fat
  • one person-corndogs-250 calories, 135 grams of fat
  • one person-twinkies-150 calories, 40 grams of fat
  • one person-spicy cheetos-170 calories, 100 grams of fat
  • one person-cookies-95 calories, 247 grams of fat

This is all of our unhealthy junk food that we love, sadly.

Our Healthy Snack Party

We are having a healthy snack party. We are each bringing a healthy substitute for unhealthy foods we love.

  • frozen yogurt instead of ice cream
  • apples with peanut butter instead of caramel apples
  • pretzels instead of chips
  • carrots instead of french fries
  • apple juice instead of soda
  • raw unsalted sunflower seeds instead of gum
  • granola bars instead of cookies
  • cheddar mini rice cakes instead of Cheetos
  • baked apple sprinkled with cinnamon instead of apple pies
  • dark chocolate instead of brownies
  • 100 calorie packs instead of oreos
  • biscuits instead of cinnamon roles

Exercise is Awesome


Exercise is a very important part of your day. You should have 60 minutes of exercise each day. Most people don't exercise because it is not fun, but you can make it fun by playing games, sports, jogging with friends ect. Either way you should still try to fit in 1 hour of exercise each day. Have fun exercising!

Too Much Junk Food

Almost 50 million americans are obese and 6 to 7 million are "moribly obese": they weigh 100 pounds more than they should. Since the late 1970s,the rate of obesity among americans has increased by 50 percent. Amoung preschoolers it has doubled. And amoung children aged six to eleven it has tripled. "We've got the fattest, least fit generation of kids ever" nutritionists say.

A Healthier World

We are writing this blog for exhibition. We chose to do health as our topic. In this blog we will be talking about healthy food, exercise, junk food, and obesity. We are trying to make a healthier world. We hope you like our blog.
